Study Abroad Programs

Journey to Jordan, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Program Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The group will spend several days in Washington, D.C. and seven weeks in Jordan, including a six-week Arabic language institute at the University of Jordan in Amman. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and be age 15-18 at the start of the program. Graduating seniors qualify as long as they are no older than 18 on the first day of the program (arrival in Washington, D.C.). No previous Arabic experience is required.

Arabic Language & Area Studies Programs, Yemen College of Middle Eastern Studies

The YCMES offers year-round Arabic language instruction through the Yemen Language Center (YLC) along with a Program in Contemporary Middle Eastern Studies (PCMES). Students at the YCMES have the opportunity to focus entirely on Arabic language instruction, the PCMES, or a combination of the two.

League of Arab States Exchange

Participants meet with Arab League officials and ambassadors, as well as officials at the U.S. embassy (e.g. public affairs, press, or information attaches). If in session, the group may have the opportunity to observe specialized committees of the League. Participants also meet with prominent Egyptian intellectuals, visit Egypt’s ancient attractions, and visit with fellow international students at the American University in Cairo.




High School Focus on Egypt Program, AFS Intercultural Programs


Year Program
The school year runs from September until May with a two-week vacation in January. Most students will attend private language schools and wear uniforms. Some classes may be taught in English, others in Arabic, and subjects can usually be chosen freely, depending on the school.

Summer Homestay Language Study Program
This four-week program is designed to give students an intensive introduction to the Arabic language and immersion into Egyptian culture. You will live with a Egyptian host family in Cairo, attend Arabic language classes, and will travel with your fellow AFS Students to cultural and historic sites.




The Palestinian Summer Celebration 2009, Siraj Center for Holy Land Studies in partnership with Bethlehem University.

Come and celebrate Palestine! The Palestinian Summer Celebration is a unique annual program that gives people from all over the world the chance to encounter the life, culture, and politics of Palestine. Learn Arabic and study Palestinian history at Bethlehem University.




Youth Exchange Programs, Siraj Center for Holy Land Studies

The Youth Exchange Program is divided into two sections: high school students and university students. This program fosters face-to-face interaction between youth from all over the world and the youth of Palestine and the Holy Land.




Programs for Americans, AMIDEAST

AMIDEAST Education Abroad Programs in the Arab World offers semester, academic year and summer programs designed for undergraduate students who want to accelerate their acquisition of Arabic language proficiency, and deepen their understanding of the peoples and cultures of the Middle East and North Africa.
